Three people were rescued from a sinking fishing boat Thursday night near Black Bay in Louisiana.
The New Orleans Coast Guard received an alert around 11 p.m. that the boat was beginning to take on water in the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet.
A helicopter and rescue boat were dispatched, and all passengers were rescued without injury.
Search and Rescue Coordinator Roberto Trevino said, “These mariners were able to be rescued due to their access to VHF radio. Thanks to their preparedness and the readiness of our crews, we were able to safely rescue all people on board.”
Mariners in need of assistance should hail the Coast Guard on international distress frequency, channel 16.
