Drive-in movie night in Jefferson Parish

The Bucktown Marina looked like a step back into the 1950s Friday Night.

Susan Zackin, the owner of Z Event Company, organized a drive-in movie event to give people something to do, while also practicing social distancing. More than 100 cars and trucks were parked at the site during the event, secured by JPSO deputies.

To add to the pop-culture nostalgia, DJ Raj Smoove provided classic rock and roll music for the crowd before the screening of the 1978 film “Grease” began on a 40-inch screen. Several local food trucks and vendors sold their signature meals, drinks, and desserts on site.

“We’ve been having to separate, it’s a little bit uncomfortable,” says Zackin. “This gives everybody an opportunity to get together, and still be apart. We are giving back to our community the best way we know how.. by putting on an enjoyable event with built-in social distancing allowing families to share a car and a show.”
